The IZSVe provides scientific and technical support to the Ministry of Health and to the local governments of three regions in the North east area of Italy: Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige.

IZSVe Laboratories

The IZSVe laboratories are highly specialised facilities which perform analyses using the most technologically advanced methods and equipment. The IZSVe has 7 national reference laboratories (Avian influenza and Newcastle disease; Rabies; Salmonella; Beekeeping; Fish, crustacean and mollusc pathology; Diseases at the animal-human interface; Animal Assisted Interventions;).

The IZSVe has also 7 international reference laboratories (OIE reference laboratory for avian influenza and Newcastle disease; FAO reference centre for animal influenza and Newcastle disease; OIE reference laboratory for viral encephalopathy and retinopathy of marine fish; OIE reference laboratory for salmonella; FAO reference centre for rabies; OIE collaborating centre for epidemiology, training and control of emerging avian diseases; OIE collaborating centre for diseases at the animal-human interface).

IZSVe Biobank

All the IZSVe Biobank samples are regularly tested for quality and purity. Storage and traceability play a vital role in the biobank with all samples identified by a dedicated software.

Since 1999 several outbreaks of Avian Influenza (AI) occurred in the North East part of Italy affecting chicken and turkey farms. The diagnosis of AI outbreaks carried out by the national and international reference laboratory allowed the collection of valuable samples throughout the years in a longitudinal manner. This led to an intensive research activity and resulted in analysis, publishing and dissemination of relevant epizoological data to the international scientific community. Part of invaluable samples collected during AI outbreaks are now part of IZSVe Biobank.

Contact

Dr. Alda Natale (anatale@izsvenezie.it)

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.0.47″][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.0.47″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.0.47″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.0.66″] IZSVe Veterinary Biobank About IZSVe The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe, www.izsvenezie.it) is a public veterinary Institute which conducts surveillance, diagnostic and research activities in the areas of animal health and food safety with the aim to prevent and control the spread of animal pathogens, […]

["post-102","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
